CO2 Storage Resource Catalogue

The CO2 Storage Resource Catalogue is an independent evaluation of geologic CO2 storage assessments worldwide. It is a pioneering initiative to accelerate the deployment of carbon capture, use and storage (CCUS) by supporting the development of storage resources.

The Catalogue has adopted the approach of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Storage Resource Management System (SRMS) for the classification of global storage resources. Under this system, the evaluated geologic formations are defined as ‘stored’, ‘capacity’ and ‘resource’. The intent is to capture the maturity of commercial resources available to CCUS projects globally.

The 13 countries evaluated in the CO2 Storage Resource Catalogue so far represent the first assessment of a six-year public resource provided by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative. The goal of the CO2 Storage Resource Catalogue is to be the global repository for all future storage resource assessments.
