Methodology

The Global Storage Resources Database uses published assessments to evaluate geologic CO2 storage resources.

The methodology developed by Pale Blue Dot Energy closely follows the definitions of the Storage Resource Management Scheme (SPE-SRMS). Pale Blue Dot Energy flow chart shows the decision-making process against the SPE-SRMS. The SPE SRMS is a project-based classification scheme. The current assessment highlights that the majority of resource assessments are not project-based and hence dominate non-commercial categories of the SPE SRMS scheme. The initial assessment results also highlight the critical need for the nascent CCUS industry to incorporate project-specific requirements (infrastructure, number of penetrations) to a specific resource.
